Filing text and images drawings with your Cricut

I was disappointed that the Cricut did not fill letters when drawing. The result was just an outline.

So I have been playing. The results I archived were what I was wanting.

It is a simple process and if you need the cross hatch file I used you can download it here. Simply save the file and add it to Images in Design Space. This will work for text and images.

Here are results from various writing options on the Cricut.

Print and Cut on Cricut Maker

Using the Print and Cut feature in Cricut Design Space you can create personalized labels and cut outs. It is a simple feature with great results.

This video shows how to take a basic image, add text and create your own labels. There will soon be another video for some advanced ideas for the print and cut.

Creating a text offset for Design Space

I use my Cricut Maker a lot but one feature it lacks is creating an offset, a border around. So after playing around I have worked out a method you can do solely in Design Space or by using other free software.

The free software I have used is Brother Canvas Workspace. This software is designed for use with the ScanNcut but with a few tweaks you can create exactly the offset you are looking for. Canvas Workspace can be easily found with a Google search. Download the desktop version and you are ready to go.

Please share your designs with us all.

Insert Cards

Recently the Cricut Joy moved to my craft room. I love having it and I can make cards very quickly. The one downside I found was that the preset card size was not the size common in Australia. So with some playing around I have manged to work out the appropriate size panel I need for A6 size cards. In Australia we typically use half an A4 size, which is in reality A5 size cards.

This short video will show the process, I would love to see the cards you make. Included in the video is how to make the same stye of card for other machines. I have created this in Cricut Design Space, however, you could create the same thing in and design program.

Material Settings on the Cricut

Are you getting clean cuts first time?  Do you find yourself cutting twice? Here are tips on your pressure setting on your Cricut.

When you are cutting on any machine getting a clean cut is dependent upon blade pressure and depth. Altering the pressure on the Cricut machines is very easy. You can also set up your own custom materials.

The simple steps are shown in the video.

Cutting a full page of stickers on a Cricut Maker

I love the Print and Cut feature in Cricut Design space, however, I wanted to use a full A4 sheet. So I started playing around to work out how to do that. There are videos on YouTube with different ideas and I tried some of them with not much success. I have Sure Cuts A Lot 5 (SCAL) and decided to try doing it thru that program.

After some trial and error I had success a full A4 page of stickers.

The process is a little fiddly at first but it does make a full page of stickers possible. So give it a go, see how it works for you. Test it out on normal copy paper a couple of times before using your sticker paper. I might next try to do this for a 12x12 sheet of paper because I can in fact print that size on my printer, however, I will leave that for another day.

Enjoy the video and show me how you go.
